Human beings and the body have been the my main focus since 2004. First it is a cycle of The Image of Woman, then the cycle of The Image of Man, followed by the cycle The Image of Children. (also with video installations) I show the different stages of life and their perceptions. In the year 2007 I create the cycle ´Chimeras´. Then the cycle ´Dream‐Creatures´ follows. I go one step further in confronting the viewer with our modern society, where the people become more or less fantasy figures themselves. I call beings and figures into existence altered by plastic surgery, sports, doping, drugs or even created in digital worlds. And then i elevate them to mixed entities: Fabled creatures, which we already know from Greek mythology with an additional dimension.
I then moved away from my previous subject, the body, and work in my next series of works with themes concerning the structures and manifestations of the brain. In ´Knowledge and its Structures´ (2010) I use acrylic, monotypes and collage on canvas to explore how writing transfers knowledge, especially in the light of new media, the Internet and cyber communication. And I also present here as well a contemporary reinterpretation of Descartes "I think, therefore I am".
My next cycle ‘CITIES OF KNOWLEDGE/SITES OF KNOWLEDGE’ of 2012 is the continuation of this subject. Our digital knowledge‐society is mainly concerned acquiring competencies. Since about a decade some cities distinguish themselves as ‘cities of knowledge’ which emerge from knowledge communities and organizations. Knowledge‐based resources are the requirement for ability to develop and the future is based, beside art and culture, on innovation, technology, research and science. I think as well that knowledge is saved in the experience of bodies and nature. All these approaches are found in this cycle, implemented with appropriate techniques.
With my latest cycle ‘ENERGY’ I got back to the photogram I already used for the cycle ‘Scars’ and continuously brought back in my cycles of men, women and children. The body is an very important subject to me and actually it’s all about cells, mass, transformation, space and chakras and prana. In my future works I want connect body and knowledge.
